Your Shining Star

Sleep. Work. Eat.

Sleep. Work. Eat.

Sleep. Work. Eat.

A day in, day out, monotonous routine which this poor man had sunk into. Working a job he hated, to put food on the table of a family who treated him like shit, all because he had been told to “Learn some fucking responsibility”. Where had his dreams died? Where had his shining star faded?

His days spent in College? Perhaps. That was where reality had slapped him hardest.

His days living with his parents? Perhaps. That was where he had been told to grow up.

His days as a married man? Perhaps. That was where he had been forced to change who he was.

I wonder where I’ll be in ten years?

Probably in the same damn place. Working for some useless prick who didn’t know the difference between a CD-ROM and a DVD, much less how to fix the crappy plastic boxes their company churned out. This man had once had dreams of becoming a musician, of making movies. He had never wanted money. He’d never wanted a big house and a fast car, he just wanted to live his life in an enjoyable manner. After all, he was only going to get one chance, wasn’t he?

Life has a habit of crushing one’s dreams.

The world had caught up with him. College had stripped him of all desires to be anything more than another man in a suit, his family had stripped him of all desires to go his own way, his wife had stripped him of everything which stopped him being the perfect fucking husband. What was this man’s name?

Does it matter? Does he matter? Probably not.

Did he have any other options? Could he have turned out any different? Perhaps. If he hadn’t been so much of a coward, so afraid to stand up and take responsibility and make good on all the promises he made himself. If he’d asked that girl out in high school, if he’d gone ahead and set up that business, if he’d just fucking stayed focused on something for longer than a week. But it’s all gone. The shining star has gone and nothing guides his way.

Sleep. Work. Eat.

Sleep. Work. Eat.

Sleep. Work. Eat.

Die.

Hello all and welcome to the remake of ViolentSleep. A lot of things have changed around these parts and one can only hope you like them, or at the very least don’t mind. This is my domain however, and thus my word is law.

First off on the changes is the new layout of the place. I would assume you’ve noticed that already, so I’ll let it lie. Much fancier than my previous design, if I do say so myself. However, because the template’s brand new I would like any feedback on errors. Either leave a comment or e-mail me with the email subject: “Website Errors”.

I’ll be adding to the website as time goes by, but for now let me walk you through the sections of the website.

  • Home: Should be fairly obvious, the homepage. Will show any updates on games I am making, other VS related news or announcements.
  • About: Gives the basic description of everything Violent Sleep related, from yours truly to ViolentSleep Industries. Pretty self-explanatory.
  • Blog: More than just a place for me to spill my heart out, the blog will also act as a news centre where you can come to check up on the progress of any projects I’m working on, or any major announcements.
  • Games: Any games I make or have a hand in making will go here. Whether the game is related to ViolentSleep Industries or Twilight Shadow Studios, or even something unrelated to either, you can find it there.
  • Community: The forums. For help on games, random discussion or any input, feel free to visit there.

That’s all to say. I have a lot of work to do, so for now I leave you.
